On Friday, October 30, 2015, the eHealth Agency and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), two long-time partners in the field of health information technology, have signed a partnership agreement for the open source medical office management software GECAMed as part of the pilot phase of the deployment of shared medical records (Dossier de Soins Partagé - DSP) in Luxembourg. The DSP is a secure, personal electronic patient health record, accessible by both the patient and their healthcare professionals to whom the patient has given access rights. It centralizes the patient's health-related medical information, thus better facilitating its management.

The full and transparent integration of DSP services within GECAMed is the result of close collaboration between LIST researchers and the eSanté Agency teams. GECAMed strictly adheres to the rules regarding security, data protection and good use of DSP set by the agency. To ensure its compliance, the software was submitted to a rigorous set of conformance tests established by the agency. GECAMed is now the first business solution for doctors in Luxembourg compliant with the DSP by providing access to patient health data in a user-friendly and transparent manner while ensuring the protection of this data. This will further exchange of communication between healthcare actors to enable a better coordination of patient care.

The new version of the open source medical office management software GECAMed fully integrates with the DSP services and will be available for free download from early November on www.gecamed.lu.

GECAMed is now used by more than 15% of general practitioners in Luxembourg and is deployed in all "maison médicales" (out-of-hours medical centre) of Luxembourg.
