Agriculture and sustainable energy: PhD successfully defended!

Published on 05/01/2016

On 18 December 2015 at the l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie et des Industries Alimentaires (ENSAIA) in Nancy (FR), Xavier Goux successfully defended his PhD thesis, awarded by the University of Lorraine (UL). His work, in the area of Agronomic Sciences, was supervised by Emile Benizri at UL and Philippe Delfosse at LIST.

His doctoral thesis, entitled “Influence of different operational factors on the structure of microbial communities involved in the anaerobic digestion process”, was undertaken as part of the GASPOP (influence of the reactor design and operational parameters on the dynamics of the microbial consortia involved in the biomethanation process) research project, financed by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR).

Xavier was awarded the title of “Doctor of Agronomic Sciences of the University of Lorraine” with distinction. The results of his research will contribute to the improvement of biogas production, thanks to a better understanding of the microbial interactions involved. Congratulations Xavier!
