EARSel SIG Imaging Spectroscopy workshop 2015: 180 experts to meet in Luxembourg

Published on 13/04/2015

From April 14-16, 2015, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) together with Trier University will jointly host the 9th edition of the European Association of Remote Sensing Laboratories (EARSeL) Special Interest Group on Imaging Spectroscopy workshop.

Since this workshop series began in Zurich in 1998, the idea of using light as a diagnostic source of information has been picking up momentum and has turned into an exciting and challenging field of research. Taking measurements in many narrow spectral bands will be possible from space in a few years, and has just become feasible from remotely piloted airborne systems. This event aims to encourage international discussions among specialists working with innovative Earth Observation technologies.

The Imaging Spectroscopy workshop will be held in the Abbaye de Neumünster (Luxembourg-Grund) and will gather about 180 researchers.

The workshop will cover a range of themes related to imaging spectroscopy.

The invited keynotes speakers are:
•    Prof. Dr. Eyal Ben-Dor, Tel-Aviv University Israel
•    Prof. Dr. Nicholas Coops, University of British Columbia, Canada
•    Prof. Dr. Jose Moreno, University of Valencia, Spain
•    Prof. Dr. Michael E. Schaepman, University of Zurich, Switzerland

The complete programme is available on the website: www.earsel2015.com

The conference is organised with the support of a number of partners, including the European Space Agency (ESA).
