Life Cycle Assessment of agrosystems: MUSA project Final Workshop

Published on 22/02/2016

The final workshop of the research project MUSA (Multi agent Simulation for consequential Life Cycle Assessment of Agrosystems) organized by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) will be held on 9 March 2016 in Belvaux (LU).

About MUSA

The project, that started in 2012, is financed by the National Research Fund (FNR) and was carried out by LIST in collaboration with LISER and CONVIS at national level and the Insight Institute for Data Analytics (Cork, Ireland) at international level. MUSA aims to simulate scenarios of future possible evolution of the Luxembourgish farming system, taking into account more factors than just the economic oriented drivers in farmers’ decision making process.

The assessment in MUSA was done through the implementation of an agent-based model, where the farmers are agents interacting among themselves and with the surrounding environment (exogenous factors like environmental constrains, policy decisions, evolutions of crops market prices, etc.). The effects of the simulated scenarios were then translated in environmental impacts to nourish a Consequential Life Cycle Assessment (C-LCA) model. In addition to the methodology, the project produced a web application to perform simulations varying operational parameters, which is mainly destined to the stakeholders.

Event&registration

Registration is open until 4 March 2016.

We will share with you the final results of MUSA research project after the closing event. The workshop is divided in two sections. The morning session will host two keynote speakers and the afternoon session will present the results of the project.
