Participation of LIST in the Luxembourg space cluster mission to California

Published on 08/04/2015

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), represented by Dr. Lucien Hoffmann, director of the Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) department, and by Dr. Thierry Girot of the Materials Research and Technology (MRT) department, took part in the mission to California organised from March 29-April 3, 2015 by the Luxembourg Space Cluster and the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce.

The mission’s objective was to investigate and identify ground for long term cooperation between Luxembourg and the Southwestern United States in the field of aerospace and composite materials through bilateral meetings with NASA institutes, companies and research organisations. Presentations of the centre’s activities followed by B2B meetings were held at the Silicon Valley Space Center and at NASA Ames Research Center near San Francisco, as well as at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena in order to present LIST’s competencies and technology offer and to establish new contacts for future collaboration opportunities.

The mission provided the opportunity for LIST to meet potential contacts including equipment providers and research organisations active in the aerospace and satellite manufacturing sectors, as well as raw material suppliers and component manufacturers in the composite materials sector.
