A new tool and customised demonstrations for efficient supply chain logistics

Within the Ecologistics project, co-financed by the Interreg IVB programme and coming to a close, the project partners have developed an ICT tool for supply chain synchronisation over the Electronic Product Code (EPC) network. A European tracking and tracing standard, EPC allows unique tags to be attached to products and other assets travelling through the supply chain, making it possible to track the real-time location of any specific item, and more widely to promote more efficient and sustainable logistics for SMEs.

A first version of the tool available

Based on open-source software, a first version of this functional tracking and tracing tool is available at www.ecologistics-project.eu/downloads, together with the source code and user manuals.

Customised demonstrations for companies

Demonstrations of the tool are offered by the project partners to North West Europe area firms. In Luxembourg, LIST has acquired mobile demonstration equipment comprising RFID and barcode readers as well as a set of identifiable objects.

>> Luxembourg companies, but also companies from border areas, wishing to become acquainted with the tool are invited to contact LIST researchers for a customised demonstration.

And then?

The tool will also be used to train operators to EPC standards and to help make it possible for companies to maintain more efficient and collaborative supply chains, improving traceability and reducing freight congestions, waiting times and unnecessary trips.
