Environmental management, product design and evaluation tools offer possibilities to companies and organisation to valorise their efforts to effectively manage environmental impacts of their activities. Clearly, they propose the advantage of independent certification and transparent communication on environmental impacts and benefits to the general public and customers.
Two schemes of the European Union - the Environmental Management System for organisations (EMAS) and the EU Ecolabel for product design and evaluation – are at the heart of this half-day Betriber&Emwelt conference. Representatives from the European Commission will share insights into both schemes and, most importantly, clarify differences between EMAS and other existing schemes such as the ISO 14001 standard.
Invited speakers from EMAS-certified companies will share experience of the transition towards EMAS, why EMAS certification was important for their business and which benefits it provides. The Luxembourgish Government is financially supporting companies to adopt environmental certification and Luxinnovation will give an overview on existing funding possibilities. The event will offer ample time to exchange and discuss with speakers and other participants.
Please note that this Betriber&Emwelt conference is a side event of the International Life Cycle Management (LCM) Conference 2017 hosted by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, taking place at the European Convention Centre from 3 to 6 September 2017. The LCM 2017 conference offers a rich programme, from an innovation and business point of view. Please visit the dedicated website for more information and registration.
For Luxembourgish SMEs participating in the B&E event on EMAS and Ecolabel, LIST also offers, with support of the Luxembougish Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure (MDDI), access to three sessions of the LCM conference, which appear to be of particular interest for companies:
If you are participating on behalf of a Luxembourgish SME and you are interested in these sessions, please indicate this in the registration form.
All Luxembourgish companies and in particular SMEs
The aim of the event is to raise awareness among Luxembourgish companies on existing instruments to effectively manage environmental impacts of their activities, i.e. the Environmental Management System for organisations (EMAS) and the EU Ecolabel for product design and evaluation.
The event will be animated by a combination of talks by EMAS practitioners from already certified companies and representatives from the European Commission.
