LIST International Award in Bioinnovation

The LIST International Award in Bioinnovation 2017 honours ground-breaking research papers submitted or published after 1 January 2014 in domains such as bioavailability of nutrients, nutrient transport and nutrient effectiveness on a cellular level.

The call is open to all academic ranks. Submissions must include the actual research paper, a 3-page summary of the research activities and a curriculum vitae of the submitting researcher. The selection process will be organized by a jury composed of academics from LIST as well as international experts.


Prof. Dr. Manfred Eggersdorfer

Senior Vice President Nutrition Science & Advocacy at DSM Nutritional Products and Professor for Healthy Aging at Groningen University (NL). 

Prof. Dr. Lucien Hoffmann

Director of the Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) department at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).

Prof. Dr. Julian Weghuber

Professor of Molecular Cell Physiology and head of the working group “Functional Food” at the FH Upper Austria.

Dr. Jürgen Reimann

Publicly appointed and sworn expert for the delineation of pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs. Pharmacist for pharmaceutical analysis and drug information. Lecturer at the universities of Munich and Regensburg.

Dr. Tobias Kühne

Chief Scientific Officer at PM-International and speaker at the FitLine Nutrition Academies worldwide. General medical practitioner with specializations in sports and nutrition medicine.


We are looking for studies with a focus on the following subjects:

- Bioeffectiveness – i.e. the effect of the nutrients that are described and investigated (see below) regarding their contribution to physical and mental health. This can include the absorption of nutrients, transport into the cells and the triggering of physiological reactions. Observation of synergy effects.

- Definition of nutrients:

  • I.e. primary and secondary nutrients. Especially 
  • Vitamins, minerals and trace elements
  • Botanicals
  • Extracts from botanicals

 We are not particularly interested in active substances used in the medical field or novel food substances.
