ASIME-2018

Asteroid Science Intersections with In-Space Mine Engineering

On 16-17 April 2018 is to be held the event "Asteroid Science Intersections with In-Space Mine Engineering" ASIME-2018 at the University of Luxembourg, Belval Campus.

Building on the success of ASIME 2016, the University of Luxembourg, the Ministry of the Economy, the Luxembourg National Research Fund, LIST and Europlanet have come together to support ASIME-2018.

ASIME 2018 will focus on the topic of asteroid composition. In particular, contributions that address the following questions are encouraged:

  • What do we know about asteroid composition from remote-sensing observations?
  • What are the potential caveats in the interpretation of composition from Earth-based spectral observations?
  • What developments are required to improve our knowledge of asteroid composition using ground-based and space-based observations and asteroid rendez-vous and sample return missions?
  • How can this knowledge be used by industry to recover or use the resources?
