From 22 to 25 November 2025, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) will take part in the new edition of the Science Festival, organised by the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) and the National Research Fund (FNR) at the Neumünster Abbey Cultural Exchange Center in Luxembourg City.
On Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November, the Science Festival will open its doors to the general public, and then to students from Luxembourg schools.
The purpose of this event is to showcase and promote science and research in Luxembourg, and to spark the interest of young people and the general public in science and technology through interactive workshops, shows, and scientific performances.
LIST researchers will hold six booths to present their activities:
METHAVAN: Understanding Methanisation” – Location: Parvis, n°11
Methavan is a mobile laboratory built in a trailer to present methanisation and the circular economy through fun and educational experiments.
“Plants in the Spotlight!” – Location: Parvis, n°26
Discover how plants respond to climate change, pests, and diseases. Observe plants, identify harmful insects, and explore the fascinating adaptation techniques of the plant world. Science at your fingertips!
“Sensors in All Their Forms!” – Location: Abbey, 2nd floor, n°37
Sensors are transforming health and safety. Come and discover our smart sensors through interactive workshops: quantum sensors, gas sensors, biosensors, and simulations. Dive into cutting-edge research with LIST experts!
“SpaceCraft: A Hands-On 3D Printing Adventure” – Location: Parvis Neimënster, n°51
Discover 3D space manufacturing! A fun and hands-on workshop to explore how 3D printing and lunar and Martian materials could shape the habitats of the future. Handle, test, imagine — become the builders of tomorrow, here on Earth and beyond!
“When AI Looks at the Sky: Detecting Satellites and Meteors” – Location: Abbey, ground floor, n°21
Discover how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising sky observation! This booth unveils methods to detect hidden satellites in astronomical images and identify meteors using radio data. Whether you’re passionate about astronomy or curious about technology, dive into the fascinating world of AI applied to space sciences. Experiments and demonstrations will help demystify these cutting-edge technologies for everyone!
“Microbe Hunters: The Secrets of Wastewater” – Location: Abbey, first floor, n°27
Our wastewater tells the story of our health! Discover how scientists turn our toilets into sentinels to track microscopic “spies” like influenza or COVID-19. Dive into this amazing science that can detect epidemics before they break out!
