LIST participation in the 1st International Workshop on Business Analytics in Practice and Applied Research (BAPAR)

From 11 - 14 July 218, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology will participate in the 1st International Workshop on Business Analytics in Practice and Applied Research (BAPAR), co-located with the 20th IEEE International Conference on Business Informatics (CBI2018).

BAPAR Workshop Objectives

Business Analytics (BA) aims to support users to make decisions and create business value from their data based on powerful analytics techniques and tools. BA is a topic widely discussed in literature from both theoretical and applications points of view. BA systems are highly complex systems that pose great challenges in their design, development and operation.

We encourage the original applied research contributions sharing and discussing the challenges, success stories and solutions related to Business Analytics. This workshop aims to share and discuss how applied researchers and practitioners are dealing with BA solutions to create and transform business data into real-added business value. Thus, it aims to present and discuss concrete examples of applications, concepts, techniques and tools that target BA. At the same time, it welcomes presentation of application case studies in different domains related to BA.

The topics are among but not limited to:

  • BA case studies and applied research
  • Evaluation of techniques and application case studies
  • Challenges, value-stories and best practices in designing, deploying and using BA solutions
  • Data processing algorithms and techniques for structured and unstructured data: Machine Learning,   Natural Language Processing (NLP) and semantics
  • Big data storage solutions and evaluation
  • BA and cloud

Paper Submission

All submissions must be unpublished and not be under review elsewhere. Manuscripts will be from 6 to 8 pages and should be submitted in the IEEE 2-column format at www.ieee.org. Papers redirected from the main conference will be also considered by the program committee of the workshop. The workshop wants to be considered as a target for rejected-but-not-too-bad papers from the main conference.

For discussion-oriented submission, authors are invited to submit 1 page abstract in the IEEE 2-column format at www.ieee.org.

Submissions should be made through EasyChair system in PDF format.

For paper-oriented submission, papers will be published as a general CBI workshop proceedings with CBI. The proceedings of the CBI series are published by the IEEE as an electronic publication with its own ISBN number.

For discussion-oriented submission, abstracts will be part of the CEUR on-line proceedings.

At least one author of an accepted paper should register for the conference and present the paper.
