LIST-Goodyear: an award-winning partnership

Published on 09/10/2019

On the 10th of September 2019,  the Multi-Performance Optimisation team of the Data Science for Tires Goodyear-LIST collaborative research project (on the picture from left to right: Peiman Alipour (LIST), Djamel Khadraoui (LIST), Kanwar Bharat Singh (Goodyear), Frank Petry (Goodyear) and Emile Simon (LIST)), received a best paper award from the Tire Society in the United States.

The winning paper, "Application of Machine Learning Techniques to Tire Related Datasets" was submitted and presented at the 2018 Tire Society annual conference in Akron (Ohio), the main conference in the field of Tire Science and Technology. It is another great achievement for a partnership setting the standard among LIST’s industrial collaborations.

A successful partnership

The flagship collaboration - started between LIST and Goodyear in late 2016 - is now in full swing. The research and development activities are focused on developing new innovative tools/solutions as well as improving the knowledge and performance of the processes and materials used in the manufacture of the tires of today and of the future.

With a record investment of almost 50 million euros, the LIST-Goodyear partnership is Luxembourg's largest public-private RDI partnership ever. This partnership covers 16 projects (and over 30 sub-projects) grouped into five research programmes; four of these investigate materials and one deals with data science.
