The MRT Department’s research and technology activities target two main areas: nanomaterials and nanotechnology and sustainable polymeric and composite materials. The Nanomaterials/Nanotechnology Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) unit addresses specific technology fields like transducing materials for sensors and actuators, photocatalysis, energy harvesters/suppliers, transparent electronics and conductive/optical nanocomposites, point-of-care and drug delivery. These activities relies on state-of-the-art clean-room laboratory facility. Internal research is pushed towards the "proof-of-concept" based on prototyped devices. In parallel, new synthesis processes and nanomaterials integration are developed in order to achieve unique elaboration capabilities and materials properties leveraging the innovation of advanced products.




The aim of the internship will be to synthetize CNTs with tailored functionalization and immobilize them onto commercial metal substrates available in the lab. The immobilized CNTs will be characterized with techniques like scanning electron microscopy, scanning transmission electron microscope and contact-angle measurements. The electrochemical energy storage properties of the anodes based on these CNTs will be analysed in half electrochemical cell with Lithium counter/reference electrodes. As the mounting of the electrochemical cell will be done in a glove box, the selected candidate will work during a non-negligible time into a glove box.





  • Master 2 student in material science, physical-chemistry or chemistry


  • Experience in wet based fabrication methods, Li-ion cell electrochemical characterization and work in glove box environment would be appreciated
  • Collaborative skills, initiative, result oriented, organization, and capacity to work in an interdisciplinary environment


  • Fluent English and French (spoken and written)
