Master student internship in Polymer chemistry and polymer processing (M/F)

Reference : MRT-2019-Intern-007

Type: Intern
Contract type: Internship
Duration: 4-6 months
Place: Bascharage

Context

The internship position will assist our ongoing investigations on nano-composite blending and reactive comptabilization. Focus will be put on the following tasks:

  • Nano-particle dispersion
  • Nano-composite reactive modification and blending
  • Characterisation of the properties of the resulting materials
  • Potentially: ageing resistance characterization of those particle/polymer interfaces

This internship will consist in exploring a new process consisting of connecting in tandem two extruders. Commodity polymers with large differences in viscosity will be evaluated (e.g. Polyesters and elastomers). Besides reactive comptabilization will be run.
Functional properties (mechanical, scratch resistance, etc.) shall be connected to physico-chemical structure using different techniques (e.g GPC, IRTF, DSC, TGA, molecular weight, etc.).
Finally, a selection of potential applications for the best blends should be envisaged.
