Design office layout is an increasingly complex process, difficult to manage due to the large number of parameters and input to take into account.  

Adjacencies and circulation between spaces are an important design variable to control in the office layouts in order to facilitate the work and communication between different services in a building.




The purpose of the internship is to contribute to developing a parametric model of an existing office building enabling the adaptation of the spaces according to the changes of an organization through time (new comings and modification of the services), while maintaining the adjacency between the spaces when required.  
The trainee will be working on a configuration of a plug-in or a 3D model based on parametric modelling. The main function of this plug-in is to help the reorganisation of spaces accordingly. The internship will specifically target to: (1) the parameters affecting the office layout, and (2) the relation between the different parameters and building elements.
Integrated into the project team, the trainee will be responsible of:

  • Updating scientific and technological state-of-the-art in the parametric modelling in general
  • Defining together with the team the specifications for a demonstrator prototype, targeting the design of the building office layout adapted to the requirements related to spaces and functions
  • Implementing, deploying and testing the prototype in LIST





  • Master in Computer Science or Architecture or equivalent, in progress


  • Knowledge in parametric modelling software (in particular grasshopper, Rhino 3D)
  • Programming and scripting with grasshopper (C#, VB)
  • Knowledge in virtual and augmented reality is a plus


  • English and French (spoken and written)
