Context

 

The MRT Department’s research and technology activities target two main areas: nanomaterials and nanotechnology and sustainable polymeric and composite materials. The Nanomaterials/Nanotechnology Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) unit addresses specific technology fields like transducing materials for sensors and actuators, photocatalysis, energy harvesters/suppliers, transparent electronics and conductive/optical nanocomposites, point-of-care and drug delivery. These activities relies on state-of-the-art clean-room laboratory facility. Internal research is pushed towards the "proof-of-concept" based on prototyped devices. In parallel, new synthesis processes and nanomaterials integration are developed in order to achieve unique elaboration capabilities and materials properties leveraging the innovation of advanced products.

 

Description

 

The major aim of this internship will be to develop and use a totally new spray/casting technique allowing for the deposition of noble metals, oxides nanomaterials and complexes, allowing to design new conducting and transparent low cost electrodes for electronic. We will research on the parameter space for the spraying of nanomaterials, and to tune the composition and spraying design to achieve robust and highly efficient electrode performance. Parameter space that needs fine-tuning include porosity, interconnectivity, mechanical strength, etc.

  • Master 2 student in material science, physical-chemistry or physic

Competencies

  • Experience in wet based fabrication methods, microscopies, self-assembly, spectroscopy, spray technologies, thin films
  • Collaborative skills, initiative, result oriented, organization, and capacity to work in an interdisciplinary environment

Language

  • Fluent English and French (spoken and written)
