Context

The Nanomaterials/Nanotechnology Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) unit addresses specific technology fields like transducing materials for sensors and actuators, photocatalysis and energy harvesters/suppliers, transparent electronics and conductive/optical nanocomposites, point-of-care and drug delivery and relies on state-of-the-art clean-room laboratory facility. Internal research is pushed towards the "proof-of-concept" based on simple prototyped devices. In parallel, new synthesis processes and nanomaterials integration are developed in close collaboration with leading equipment manufacturers and OEMs in order to achieve unique elaboration capabilities and materials properties leveraging the innovation of advanced products. Nanomaterials/Nanotechnology RDI unit executes competitive projects, industry-funded projects and European projects. 

The Nanomaterials/Nanotechnology unit empowers innovation via three expertise areas: 1) engineering of multi-phased nanostructures/powders 2) conductive, transparent and optically-responsive nanomaterials 3) fundamentals of ferroic materials.

You will join the Nanomaterials/Nanotechnology unit and you will lead the transparent electronics and optically-tuneable nanocomposites (TEOTN) research group, which counts today about 15 people.

 

Description

 

Your mission is to manage and leverage the TEOTN research group to develop and maintain a sustainable project portfolio addressing Technology Readiness Levels from 2 to 6. Thanks to proven management and EU projects experiences, you will accelerate the growth of the group activities.

In this context your tasks will mainly be but not limited to:

Project definition and group management:

  • Overall management, coordination and performance follow-up of the research group: lead a multicultural and multidisciplinary team of researchers and create a stimulating and satisfying work environment within the group, assume the operational responsibility of the group's human resources
  • Lead the definition and manage as Principal Investigator large EU research and technology projects
  • Develop industrial partnerships, ultimately lead to bilateral research projects
  • Guarantee the professional execution of the RDI projects of the group
  • Ensure the implementation of the RDI group business plan and that the RDI group's contribution to the RDI Unit performance indicators is achieved 
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration with other RDI groups of the department 

Dissemination, valorisation and Strategy:

  • Develop the valorisation of the group's outcomes in terms of publications, patents, licences, prototypes production, spin-offs
  • Define and propose to the Head of Unit a RDI strategy for the group, aligned with the nanomaterials/nanotechnology’ strategy and with LIST missions as a RTO
  • Develop external collaborations, partnerships and networks (...)

 Group Administration:

  • Insure the financial follow-up of the group's performance
  • Assist the Head of Unit in reporting tasks and other administrative activitie
  • Report to the Head of Unit

Scientific and Technology Excellence:

Beside these responsibilities and missions, the Group Leader shall continue to build his/her scientific and technological knowledge and directly contribute to projects relying on his/her high level of expertise.

 


Profile

  • Phd in the field of Nanoscience, Nanotechnology, Physical sciences or Engineering disciplines
  • The candidate is expected to have 10 years of prior experience after PhD, with at least three in RDI group management
  • Show a track record in granted EU projects and successful EU projects management, and large national projects
  • Renowned Scientific and Technology Expertise in one of the group activities being functional transparent electronics nanomaterials or functional nanocomposites. Knowledge in environmental sensors technology is an asset.
  • Fluency in English (scientific exchanges) is a must, knowledge of French and/or German would be an asset
