Context

 

As a key player in research and innovation in Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), with its employees, is active in the domains of materials, the environment and IT. As an RTO (Research and Technology Organisation) and with its interdisciplinary impact-driven approach, LIST contributes to the development of Luxembourg’s economy and society.

The Materials Research and Technology Department (MRT) translates cutting-edge materials research into applicable technology, with about 180 collaborators. For this, the department cultivates close relationships and joint projects with both academic and industrial partners, and contributes to Luxembourg's and Europe's innovation agenda in Materials Research and Technology.

The Prototyping Platform of the MRT department at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) focuses on the development of process equipment, system test-bench, scientific instruments and prototypes in general. The prototyping team has a transversal role, supporting all research groups with its own engineering expertise.

 

Description

 

The candidate will participate to the development of electrotechnical aspects of new processes or of new scientific instruments in the Prototyping Platform. The responsibilities of the technician will include:

  • To understand requests from stakeholders
  • To understand systems
  • To document the work in order to ensure guarantee the traceability of the developments
  • To participate to the design and manufacture system schematics
  • To assemble mechanical and electrotechnical parts
  • To participate to the first functional tests with engineers and stakeholders
  • To participate in projects in repair or maintenance operations
  • To participate in processes with manufacturers and suppliers
  • To contribute to the overall system improvement

 


Profile

 

Education

  • Hold an electrotechnician degree or a related field

Required seniority

  • 10-15 years of experiences is required
  • A knowledge of the RTO environment is a plus

Competencies

  • Experience in electrotechnical parts assembling
  • Knowledge in electrotechnical and mechanical machinery including the safety requirements related to standards
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge in gas and fluid network would be a strong plus
  • Basic experience with electrotechnical CAD software
  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment with the respect of good laboratories practices
  • Ability to work in a team, having a good communication
  • Self-reliance and spirit of initiative
  • Strong team spirit and oriented towards collective achievements via professional support

Language

  • Be fluent in French (both oral and written)
  • Professional English is a strong plus
  • Knowledge of Luxembourgish or German will be an asset
