Context

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is appointing a PhD Student for the RDI Unit “Trusted Service Systems (TSS) “, which is part of the “IT for Innovative Services” (ITIS) Department.

The TSS unit is a multidisciplinary team performing applied research in the field of building trustworthy service systems (e.g. logistics and supply chain management) from the perspectives of big data, optimization, and security protection. The successful candidate will join the “Security, Privacy and Resilient Critical Infrastructure” research group, which focusses on the security, privacy and risk management issues for information and service systems, with a special focus on critical infrastructures.

He/She will be working on the CATALYST project, which is funded by the AFR bilateral Singapore programme of the Luxembourgish National Research Fund (FNR). The main objective of CATALYST is to investigate pragmatic security solutions for IoT devices authentication and privacy-preserving data analysis. The research problems are practically motivated and the solutions shall be based on rigorous cryptographic foundations.

Description

LIST is looking for a highly motivated PhD Student to perform a key role in the CATALYST project. She/he will closely collaborate with the project team to advance the state of the art in securing IoT devices and their applications. In the process of PhD research, he/she is expected to interact with the industrial players and standardization bodies, to promote the project outputs and acquire feedback.

As implied by the bilateral agreement between Luxembourg and Singapore, the candidate will spend a few months each year at the Singaporean partner, i.e. the iTrust center at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) where holds world-class IoT testbed for validating scientific findings.
