MATCH

The “Alliance for Materials” way to the creation of the MATerials Common House

Past project

Inspiration

The importance of materials sector is increasing across Europe. Many new innovative technologies have demanding requirements in terms of materials, which requires increased expertise in their development and improved availability of the required materials. To effectively address this need, the Alliance4Materials was created by six European Technology Platforms to promote cooperation within the materials RDI community. To go even further, the MATCH project was conceived to strengthen and deepen the Alliance4Materials strategy with a larger stakeholder network.

Innovation

Funded by the European Union within the Horizon 2020 framework programme and coordinated by Centro Sviluppo Materiali in Italy, the consortium consists of 18 partners from nine countries representing the six related European Technology Platforms and several major European material research organisations including the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). The objective of MATCH is to create a strong, reliable, sustainable, open and inclusive network where any European materials stakeholders from industry, research or university can feel comfortable and gain real value based on their own interest and expectations regarding materials RDI.

Impact

The MATCH project will have a key impact on promoting the sustainable development and innovation of the European materials sector. In particular, it will help to enlarge and improve the existing network of stakeholders at EU level and develop management actions for multidisciplinary connections between materials and a wide range of other fields relevant for European growth. It will also integrate with existing and/or create new materials networks at national and regional/interregional levels. Finally, it will integrate these networks into sustainable network hubs.
