A paper co-signed by LIST in Nature Physics

Published on 13/03/2015

A LIST's researcher, Emmanuel Defay, is co-author of a paper published in the March 2015 issue of the prestigious monthly scientific journal Nature Physics, which publishes papers in all areas of physics, pure and applied.

Entitled "Too cool to work" and co-authored by Xavier Moya, Emmanuel Defay, Volker Heine and Neil D. Mathur, the paper is about the energy efficiency of elastocaloric, magnetocaloric and electrocaloric effects, which are currently explored in a growing number of prototype cooling devices without refrigerant gas. This research could have a tremendous impact on our future domestic fridges.

Emmanuel Defay is researcher at LIST since September 2014, in the Materials Research and Technology (MRT) department. There he continues his research on electroactive materials that he had undertaken at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives, CEA) and at the University of Cambridge in the UK.
