Composites and polymers under the spotlight at JEC World 2018

Published on 15/03/2018

From 6 to 8 March 2018, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) participated in JEC World in Paris, France. For three days, LIST was present on the Luxembourg Pavilion organised by the Ministry of Economy. Among Luxembourg companies and Luxinnovation, the institute highlighted its composites and polymers R&D expertise, with a focus on National Composite Centre - Luxembourg (NCC-L).

Composites at a centre stage within LIST

Launched in 2016, the National Composite Centre - Luxembourg (NCC-L) is operated in LIST’s premises in Hautcharage, Luxembourg. With the objective of leveraging development and processing of innovative composite materials in Luxembourg, NCC-L, together with industry, leads research and innovation projects that develop pre-commercial composite applications. Read more information on the objectives of NCC-L.

LIST’s specialists in the field also highlighted their research work based on the production of new environmentally friendly functional polymers and composites. They study the physico-chemical and thermo-mechanical behavior of the related materials by a combined approach of instrumented experimental testing and adequate numerical modelling. To showcase their expertise, they brought on the Luxembourg Pavilion some samples of composite materials and processes from their laboratories.

Celebration of the Composite Industry Luxembourg ASBL

JEC World 2018 was also the opportunity for LIST and its partner, Luxinnovation, to officially celebrate the recent creation of the Composite Industry Luxembourg ASBL (CIL). Composed of national and international industrial companies, CIL completes the picture for the National Composite Initiative. NCCL-L is also part of this initiative that serves as a vehicle to attract foreign investment to Luxembourg. By consolidating the available core competencies of Luxembourg via the identification and execution of identified projects as well as networking, incubating, consulting and training, CIL contributes to generating added value from NCC-L alongside its R&D approach.
