Knowledge Extraction and Management: 150 experts will meet in Luxembourg

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) invites to the 15th edition of the annual conference of the association Extraction et Gestion des Connaissances (EGC). The Association EGC regroups researchers of the domains of decision-supporting computing, knowledge extraction from data and knowledge management. Its objective is to support multidisciplinary exchanges between researchers, but also with experts in the companies. 

The international conference on knowledge extraction and management will be held in the Abbaye de Neumünster (Luxembourg-Grund) from January 27th to January 30th, 2015. Il will gather about 150 researchers, industry representatives and students on topics such as data mining, knowledge management, visualization of information, cognitive sciences and applications, automatic learning, data bases and statistics.

Invited keynotes speakers are:

  • David Taniar, Monash University (Australia), "Big Data is all about data that we don't have" ;
  • Torben Bach Pedersen, Aalborg University (Denmark), "Managing Big Multidimensional Data" ;
  • Morten Middelfart, Social Quant, Inc., "Big Data and the Dawn of Algorithm in Everything" ;
  • Thomas Baudel, IBM France, "Challenges and Opportunities in HCI, Visual Analytics and Knowledge Management for the Development of Sustainable Cities".

The conference is organised with the support of the Institut Français du Luxembourg and the company Ardans.
