LIST launches new partnership with Tunisia

Published on 12/05/2017

From 8 to 10 May 2017, a Tunisian delegation made a business trip to Luxembourg, in particular to meet with numerous people from LIST.

This move followed LIST's participation in the TUNISIA 2020 event, at the end of November 2016.

The visit of the past few days was aimed in particular at launching collaborative projects based on a common approach between the two countries.

The other ambition of the visit is to develop cooperation between Luxembourg and the countries of the Southern Mediterranean on environmental matters, with Tunisia as a priority in 2017.

It will be necessary to further develop ongoing activities in the field of integrated water resources management and environmental monitoring and to assess the feasibility of a project for a common development center dedicated to the environment.

During the visit, the delegation took part in a round table with Luxembourg officials from the Chamber of Commerce, the House of Training and the House of Entrepreneurship to identify opportunities for collaboration. Information technology has led to very promising exchanges, notably in Smart-Mobility, Smart-Construction and Collaborative Decision Making.

Luxinnovation and the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs were also associated to this visit.

As a highlight, a public-private partnership was signed between LIST, Myriado Cleantech sàrl and the ISSTEG of Gabès.

The project "Solar desalination for drinking water production" aims at the optimization of a new generation of water desalination systems.

It will make the new desalination system autonomous by using exclusively solar energy, and increase the output of water production. The system must however remain light, consisting of simple materials without major maintenance costs. Thus, it will be easily deployable in highly sunny areas with access to sea water.

LIST therefore starts a promising cooperation with Tunisia, whose impact should improve the quality of life for the benefit of local populations.
