Over 800 participants, including LIST representatives, attended the most important event in the European manufacturing industry calendar.
During the Manufuture conference, which took place on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 November in Luxembourg, two LIST departments, Environmental Research and Innovation (ERIN) and Materials Research and Technology (MRT), shared a stand. On this occasion, MRT featured its activities in the advanced manufacturing area. A plasma micro-reactor that can be used as a generic industrial sewage treatment technique (VOC, NoX, bacteria, etc.) was presented to visitors, as well as several samples of intelligent materials.
The ERIN department presented its REACH Helpdesk, which helps businesses that use chemicals and are affected by European requirements in terms of registration, assessment, authorization and labelling. The ECOPACT ecodesign software was also featured on the stand. Ecodesign brings about improvements in the overall quality of a product, process or service by considering both functionality and the optimization of the use of resources and related energies.
The Manufuture conference is organized bi-annually by the European Union and is considered the most important event for the European manufacturing industry. It was held at the European Convention Center in Luxembourg and focused on 16 strategic topics around the development and future challenges of the sector, such as technology, research and innovation, business and competitiveness, regulatory instruments, finance and investments.
Discussion groups, debates and visits of industrial sites gave participants the opportunity to meet researchers, managers, policy makers and members of the European Commission.
