Pedro Rodríguez has been appointed Chair of the IEEE Joint Chapter of the Industrial Applications Society (IAS), the Power Electronics Society (PELS) and the Power Engineering Society (PES) of the IEEE Benelux Section, which represents the largest technical professional society of electrical and electronic engineers in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
The IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, has nearly 400,000 members who lead and participate in its activities in 150 countries. The IEEE Benelux Section, with more than 3500 members, has several local Chapters of IEEE Societies, organizes and supports local events, liaises with local professional societies, and much more.
Head of the Intelligent Clean Energy Systems unit, Pedro Rodriguez is also a Fellow of the IEEE for his contributions to distributed generation control and an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer. He has been an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics.
One of the objectives of the IEEE Benelux IAS/PELS/PES Joint Chapter is to foster collaboration between researchers, industry engineers and students in the field of industrial applications, power electronics and electrical power engineering.
With such a goal in mind, the IEEE Benelux IAS/PELS/IES Joint Chapter plans to organize several activities aimed at giving visibility to the institutions, companies and members of the Chapter, as well as fostering interaction among them and with their other international colleagues. As an example, the IEEE Benelux IAS/PELS/PES Young Researchers Symposium is organized to bring together early career researchers (postdocs and graduate students) from a wide range of disciplines within electrical power engineering, power electronics and industrial applications to exchange information and practices.
