Swiss adventurer Bertrand Piccard is coming to Luxembourg

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is very pleased to announce that Swiss adventurer Bertrand Piccard will participate in the international Life Cycle Management conference (LCM) 2017 at the European Convention Center in Kirchberg. He will deliver the inaugural speech there.

LCM 2017 is an event gathering more than 600 participants from over 40 countries to be held from 03 to 06 September 2017. It will focus on designing sustainable technologies, products and policies “from science to innovation”.

Bertrand Piccard has flown around the world with the Solar Impulse 2 aircraft between March 2015 and July 2016. After this extraordinary and intensively mediatized performance, he founded the World Alliance for Clean Technologies to encourage the use of renewable energies.

Thanks to the Solar Impulse project, Bertrand Piccard sent a strong message to the world that the transition towards these clean energies is possible, and he argues for the ushering of a model of sustainable growth.
As the Life Cycle Management research community of scholars, industrial practitioners and public institutions develop tools to assess this transition, Bertrand Piccard’s commitment and the work of the LCM community go hand in hand.

The LCM series of conferences on life cycle management of products, services and technologies is recognized as one of the major international events in the field of environmental, economic and social sustainability analysis. The unique feature of LCM is that it brings together academic, industrial and policy decision-makers as well as government agencies and NGOs to develop practical solutions for the implementation of life cycle management approaches.

This is the 8th edition of this event, which takes place every two years. This year, LIST acts as organizer, in collaboration with the University of Luxembourg and ArcelorMittal.
