Published on 18/12/2018

On 10-11 December 2018, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) together with the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the Open University of the Netherlands organised the 2018 International Technology Enhanced Assessment Conference (TEA2018) in Amsterdam (NL).

With the aim of advancing the understanding and application of information technology to the assessment process (E-Assessment) through peer-reviewed contributions from the research and practice sector, TEA 2018 brought together more than 85 participants.

The discussed topics were varied and centred on Automation in e-assessment, Feedback strategies, Security in e-assessment, Engagement, Proctor, etc. The attendees also had the opportunity to listen to the Keynote, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Achim Zeileis (University of Innsbruck, Austria) who talked about the development and possibilities of the R/exams package for E-Assessment. R/exams is an open-source package build with the R system for statistical computing. It provides an innovative yet practical and versatile one-for-all approach to automatic test generation, which is one of topics LIST’s researchers specialised in human dynamic in cognitive environments, and especially in embedded assessment, are working on.

About TEA 2018

The international TEA is a unique two-day research-led conference connecting researchers, practitioners and policy makers to address current challenges and advances in the field of assessment process (e-assessment).

The target of the Conference was to represent the state-of-the-art and different perspectives on the conception, development, evaluation and implementation of technology enhanced assessment in different sectors like primary education, secondary (vocational) education, higher (vocational) education but also professional learning and non-formal learning.

As in previous years, the conference was of particular interest to those involved in the pedagogical and technical aspects of E-Assessment and those involved in strategy, policy and implementation, such as managers and support services. The conference sought to connect the research and practice communities. The organisation team also had the support of recognized sponsors in the thematic of E-Assessment: DigitalEd, Grasple, UniWise, Xebic, Questionmark, Teelen and the network of European universities, Aurora.
