How to collaborate better at work? Cognitive environments, also called smart spaces, can enhance workers’ performance and experience for multi-user tasks such as design, decision-making and problem solving.
Cognitive environments are connected physical spaces that provide digital tools for workers to complete their tasks while detecting and measuring their activity to provide them with feedback and predictions in a natural and multimodal way.
A cognitive space provides cooperative devices such as tangible and multi-touch tables and different types of wearables. Tangible tables allow interaction with a virtual environment thanks to physical objects. To follow user dynamics, the cognitive space is equipped with cameras, microphones, sound systems, 360° projections, lighting, sensors and actuators. The technologies that equip these spaces consist of a blend of Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, data analytics, data visualisation, and Internet of things.
