Kick off meeting for doctoral candidates in Physics and materials science
In the framework of the Doctoral School programme in Physics and Materials Science, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and the University of Luxembourg invite PhD students and scientits working on relevant research fields to attend the Doctoral Kick off meeting to be held on 23 February 2018 at La Maison du Savoir in Belval (LU).
The doctoral school programme comprises scientific groups from LIST's Department of Materials Research and Technology (MRT) and from the Doctoral Program of Physics and Materials Science (DPPM) of the University.
The presence of all the PhD students registered at DPPM from both institutes are mandatory. PhD students, their supervisors as well as all interested scientific staff should confirm their attendance by filling the registration form before 16 February.

Poster registration
Students should indicate their willingness to present poster in the registration form and bring their printed posters to event before 10 am to the event site.
To ensure the best judgment, a committee of specialists, consisted of representatives of Doctoral Programme in Physics and Materials Science will preselect the five outstanding posters right after exhibition. All the DPPM students participated by presenting poster will receive 0.5 ECTS as described in the programme and the selected posters will be awarded, assigned Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and eventually published.
Programme
Morning session
In the morning session, after registration of the participants who are enrolled at the programme, poster session will be conducted by which PhD students will have the chance to share their research outline and results.

Afternoon session
After registration of the non-DPPM attendees and guests, two general assemblies will be held at the same time. During general assembly, two student representatives of Uni and LIST will be selected from volunteers, who will actively participate in meetings of supervisors committee and doctoral schools committee. In parallel, Prof. Susanne Siebentritt, as DPPM programme coordinator, will hold similar assembly of supervisors involved in the programme.
The full overview of the programmes and activities designed by the doctoral programme as main activities of the PhD candidates will be explained by directors of DPPM and two invited guest speakers, Prof. Denz from University of Munster and Mr. Johannes Fahner from Luxdoc association will conduct their speeches.

The best posters selected in the morning session will be awarded. During standing dinner, participants will enjoy dinner and exchanging ideas.
