Olivier Guillon has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, effective 1 September 2025. Announced on Wednesday, 28 April 2025, Guillon’s appointment marks a significant step for List as the institute aims to strengthen its leadership and enhance its focus on scientific excellence and industrial applications in the field of energy materials.

With the conclusion of Dirk Fransaer’s tenure as CEO ad interim at the end of May 2025, Jurgen Joossens, currently the deputy CEO, will assume the role of interim CEO from 1 June until Guillon’s official start in September.

Guillon, a French-German national, is regarded for his expertise in energy materials, particularly in the fields of solid-state batteries and hydrogen technologies. He is currently the Director of the Institute of Energy Materials and Devices at Forschungszentrum Jülich, a member of the Helmholtz Association in Germany. His experience in leading technology projects and collaborating with both scientific and industrial institutions is expected to contribute to his new position at List. His current role involves overseeing the institute’s efforts to advance energy transition technologies, an area where he has developed significant international influence. Guillon is also the spokesperson for the Helmholtz Programme “Materials and Technologies for the Energy Transition,” representing over 1,300 people from five research centres, liaising with ministries and reporting to international advisory boards.

List, a research and technology organisation, employs 750 people and is active across several key fields, including information technology, materials science, space resources and environmental sustainability.
