Blockchain a new paradigm for financial inclusion

On 9 November 2018, as part of its activities in IT for Innovative Services (ITIS), the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technologie (LIST) together with the Investment Management Advisory sarl (IMA) co-organized the conference “Blockchain a new paradigm for financial inclusion” that was held in Luxembourg-Belval.

The inherent characteristics of the Blockchain represent a paradigmatic break for the economy, and in particular for the financial sector. Without intermediary and decentralized, this technology uses community concepts to obtain a consensus giving each transaction an irrevocable character, guaranteeing its traceability. This paradigm shift is certainly a threat to traditional actors and regulators, but it also means opening up a new world of opportunity. The objective of this event was to bring together an audience of professionals and academics, entrepreneurs and investors, new technologies enthusiasts around the paradigmatic break made possible by the Blockchain.

In this context, LIST researcher Thierry Grandjean has made an oral presentation about the understanding key concepts and possible use of technology. As mentioned by Grandjean: “This event was a good opportunity to present LIST’s activities in the field of blockchains and to identify potential future collaborations.
