Circular bioeconomy focuses on the sustainable use of biological resources to generate services and products while reducing environmental impact. This seminar explores biodiversity from extreme ecosystems, including Central Chile, the Andes Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, Patagonia, and the Altiplano, and highlights how microbial genomics supports key biotechnological applications. Topics include bioremediation, agricultural bioproducts, bioplastics, and natural bioproducts. Genome-guided approaches enable the identification of biological networks and metabolic pathways for diverse applications.
Prof. Michael Seeger, from the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa Maria (Chile), is a globally recognized expert in microbiology and biotechnology.
