LIST Allocates New Funding for Entrepreneurs-in-Residence to Co-Found Science-based Spin-Offs

LIST announced ahead of Nexus Luxembourg the allocation of a dedicated Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EiR) budget to accelerate the creation of high-impact spin-off companies from its research portfolio.

This funding addresses one of the most critical challenges in deep-tech commercialisation: connecting breakthrough technologies with entrepreneurial leadership capable of transforming research into successful businesses.

“World-class technologies alone do not create successful companies. By investing in Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, we are strengthening the bridge between scientific excellence and entrepreneurial execution. Our ambition is to create more spin-offs, faster, and with stronger team foundations for long-term growth.”  Jurgen Joosens, Deputy CEO

Bridging Research and Entrepreneurship

EiRs are entrepreneurs with relevant start-up experience with a track record in technology commercialisation.

“Many breakthrough technologies never reach the market because there is no entrepreneurial champion to drive them forward, or they are driven by scientist-entrepreneurs (in general first-time technical founders) that we support in our Venture Academy but seek a commercial co-founder with complementary skills. This new financing scheme ensures that promising innovations can be paired with entrepreneurial talent early on.” Alex Godlewski, Head of Ventures

The new financing scheme will enable EiRs with relevant experience to partner with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), working closely with LIST Ventures, the venture builder of LIST, and its Research Units to build investor-ready ventures.

Opportunities for Entrepreneurs

Applications are opened to EiRs which upon evaluation and selection by LIST Ventures will receive up to €50K financial support per profile over a period of maximum one year to: refine the value proposition and business model, validate market potential, drive customer acquisition, secure investment, build a cross-functional team, and eventually launch the spin-off company.

For entrepreneurs, partnering with LIST is the opportunity to create high-tech hardware and software ventures across a range of technology fields such as Digital, AI, Space, Materials, and Bio. A full list of spin-off projects can be found on the website of LIST.

By combining scientific excellence with entrepreneurial leadership, LIST aims to establish a stronger pipeline of spin-off projects capable of bringing transformative technologies to market.
