LIST at the Science Festival 2025

From 22 to 25 November 2025, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) will take part in the new edition of the Science Festival, organised by the National Museum of Natural History (MNHN) and the National Research Fund (FNR) at the Neumünster Abbey Cultural Exchange Center in Luxembourg City.

On Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November, the Science Festival will open its doors to the general public, and then to students from Luxembourg schools.

The purpose of this event is to showcase and promote science and research in Luxembourg, and to spark the interest of young people and the general public in science and technology through interactive workshops, shows, and scientific performances.

LIST researchers will hold six booths to present their activities:

METHAVAN: Understanding Methanisation” – Location: Abbaye entrance, n°11

Methavan, a mobile laboratory, aims to explain the concept of anaerobic digestion and circular economy through interactives activities.

“Plants under attack” – Location: Parvis, n°55

Discover how plants respond to climate change, pests, and diseases! Dive into interactive experiments, explore plants, pests, and uncover how nature adapts. A hands-on journey through the science of plant survival!

“Feels the future with ultimate sensors” – Location: Abbey, 2nd floor, n°37

Sensors are revolutionizing health and safety. Discover our smart sensors through interactive workshops: quantum sensors, gas sensors, biosensors, and simulations. Dive into cutting-edge research with LIST experts!

“SpaceCraft: A Hands-On 3D Printing Adventure” – Location: Parvis Neimënster, n°51

Discover space 3D manufacturing by exploring how 3D printing and lunar and Martian materials could shape the habitats of the future. Manipulate, test and imagine: become the builders of tomorrow, both here on Earth and in space.

“When AI Looks at the Sky: Satellites and Meteors” – Location: Abbey, ground floor, n°21

Discover how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing sky observation! Unveil methods to detect hidden satellites in astronomical images and identify meteors using radio data. Dive into the fascinating world of AI applied to space sciences.

“Microbe Hunters: Sewage secrets revealed” – Location: Abbey, first floor, n°27

Our sewage tells the story of our health! Discover how scientists turn our toilets into guardians that track microscopic 'spies' like flu and COVID-19. Dive into this amazing science that detects outbreaks before they explode across communities, allowing public health authorities to take proactive preventive measures.
