The policy sets out how the research technology organisation enables researchers to explore entrepreneurial endeavours, with a clear spin-off creation process relying on a set of ambitious initiatives introduced over the course of this year by LIST Ventures (in-house venture builder) supporting internal spin-off development at different stages of maturity:
Venture Community (spin-off culture) – entrepreneurship and spin-off creation awareness raising event (Embrace the Spin-off Spirit!) and venture crash course to generate spin-off ideas (Venture 101) among the scientist community
Venture Academy (spin-off ideas) – a coaching programme to mature and pitch a spin-off project for the first time
Venture Builder (spin-off projects) – a mentoring programme supporting spin-off projects towards spin-off company launch under a defined technology transfer framework and with flexibility for employees to work for the spin-off company with a revolving door option
Beyond scientists, LIST has also recently introduced a new funding aimed at Entrepreneurs-in-Residence, who can receive up to €50K over a period of maximum one year to co-found the spin-off company.
All together, this mark a shift at LIST with entrepreneurship pathway now promoted alongside scientific excellence and a commitment to scientists, entrepreneurs and investors to create successful ventures.
Deputy CEO Jurgen Joossens explains in more details what it means for researchers and how LIST aims to make entrepreneurship a more visible pathway generating direct economic and societal impact through new companies, jobs and investment in our Behind the Scenes of LIST Ventures / Meet Jurgen Joossens, Deputy CEO interview.
