LIST signs its multi-annual programme 2026–2029 with the Ministry of Research and Higher Education

The multi-annual agreement provides a stable framework for LIST to continue contributing to Luxembourg’s research and innovation ecosystem.

On 5 February 2026, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) signed its new multi-annual programme for the period 2026–2029 with the Ministry for Research and Higher Education, represented by Minister Stéphanie Obertin.

This agreement defines the strategic framework, objectives and performance indicators guiding LIST’s activities over the next four years. It forms part of the set of conventions concluded between the State and the country’s main public research actors, including the University of Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) and the National Research Fund (FNR).

For the 2026–2029 period, the State will allocate 249.4 million euros to LIST. This represents an increase compared with the previous multi-annual programme (2022–2025), which amounted to 220 million euros, reflecting the continued confidence placed in LIST’s mission and development.

The programme is aligned with Luxembourg’s national research and innovation strategy and confirms LIST’s role in contributing to scientific excellence, technological innovation and societal impact. It sets priorities in areas such as digital technologies, data, artificial intelligence and emerging scientific fields, while reinforcing collaboration with public and private partners.

Through this multi-annual programme, LIST strengthens its commitment to delivering high-quality research and innovation activities in support of Luxembourg’s economic, environmental and societal objectives.
