Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

An inclusive working environment not only empowers individual potential but also drives collective creativity, innovation and performance.

Our definition of diversity

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) at LIST goes beyond gender or ethnic origin. We recognize and value differences in: age, worldview, physical abilities, sexual orientation as well as social and cultural background. This comprehensive understanding guides our actions and shapes our policies.

Our comprehensive DEI strategy focuses on three key areas of action:

  • Equal opportunities: Structures and processes are designed to ensure that all employees – regardless of biological, social or gender characteristics – have equal opportunities to training, career progression and personal development.
  • Well-being: We promote flexible working conditions to support a healthy work-life balance and a positive workplace environment.
  • Personal assistance: New measures are to ensure that employees in specific life situations receive individual support.

The strategy is based on a preliminary analysis and was developed in collaboration with the responsible D&I officer, the equal opportunities officer and representatives from research and administration teams.

Our goals

We aim to create a corporate culture in which diversity is valued, equal opportunities are promoted, and inclusion is part of everyday practice. In doing so, we strive to create fair conditions, raise awareness around diversity and continuously develop structures that are fair to all employees.

Particular focus is given to gender equality, supported by our  Gender Equality Plan , which commits to structural changes benefiting women and men equally. These efforts are firmly embedded in our DEI strategy and form an integral part of our commitment to greater fairness in the research and working environment.
